Neck pain is discomfort or soreness in the neck area, often caused by muscle strain, poor posture, injuries, or medical conditions such as arthritis or herniated discs.
Symptoms of neck pain can vary depending on the cause but often include stiffness, soreness, and difficulty turning the head. Individuals may experience sharp or aching pain that can radiate to the shoulders, upper back, or arms. Muscle tightness or spasms are also common, along with headaches, especially at the base of the skull. In some cases, neck pain may be accompanied by numbness, tingling, or weakness in the arms or hands if nerves are affected. Limited range of motion and increased pain with certain movements, like looking up or down, are also frequent symptoms.
