Spine or back pain is discomfort or aching that occurs anywhere along the spine, from the neck to the lower back, and can result from muscle strain, poor posture, injuries, or conditions like herniated discs, arthritis, or spinal stenosis.
Symptoms of spine or back pain can range from a dull, constant ache to a sudden, sharp or shooting pain. The discomfort may be localized to a specific area or radiate down the legs, especially if a nerve is compressed, as seen in conditions like sciatica. Stiffness and reduced flexibility in the back are common, making it difficult to stand up straight, bend, or twist. Muscle spasms and tightness may also occur, and in severe cases, individuals might experience numbness, tingling, or weakness in the legs or feet. Pain may worsen with prolonged sitting, standing, or physical activity, and can improve with rest or changes in posture.
